Laura Holland, Traditional Naturopath (ND), HHP, CNHP, Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Master ECR Practitioner

Here are Laura’s answers to our Interview Questions:

What made you choose this specialty?”
After dealing with my own health issues 20 years ago and being in awe that all my symptoms finally disappeared after using natural herbs and vitamins, I became passionate about learning natural health and how the human body functions.  I chose this specialty because innately whether it is about a person’s health and wellbeing or a circumstance between their relationships, I want to know “why did this happen” or “what caused this to happen” or “where did this begin.”   With each client I’m passionate about finding the underlying cause and what circumstance in their life could have possibly triggered this cascade of symptoms.

“How long have you been practicing?”

I have been with Heights of Health and only Heights of Health for 15 years.

“Did you always know you wanted to work in holistic Natural health care, or did you do
something else first?

It wasn’t until I regained my health holistically using natural medicine and modalities that I knew becoming a Natural Health Practitioner was my calling.  Prior to this, I worked at an Advertising/Public Relations Firm, a sales executive for business telephone systems and owned my own business—a private label menswear line.  After that, I was a full-time mom.

“What do you enjoy most about being a Natural Health Practitioner?”
There are a lot of things I like about being a Natural Health Practitioner.  First and foremost, I love the loving environment at Heights of Health and my relationships with all the practitioners.  We’ve been together a long time and there is a special bond.  I also like to witness a client’s transformation.   When they first come to the clinic, they feel lost and defeated.  To see them heal on a physical, emotional and spiritual level makes me so happy.  Another thing I enjoy, there are times I wonder how a client is doing because I haven’t seen them in a while.  I might find out 5 years later how thankful they are that they came to Heights of Health.  After guiding them and by the grace of God they are healthy and thriving.

“What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?”

I have had a lot of divine encounters through the years.  I know God sends me clients and the clients know it too.

“What do you like to do to relax outside of work?”

After work I like to have fun hanging and playing with different friends and friend groups, grandchildren, my family and extended family.  I like to read, play Mahjong and other games, travel, hike, scuba dive, ski, pickleball and golf.   I love to be outdoors and to stay active.  I also like to binge shows on Netflix.    I still love to learn by reading Natural Health articles and attending Natural Health/Functional Medicine conferences.  I also like to study the Bible, daily devotionals and attend Christian conferences and meetings.

What are you most passionate about in your practice today?

I'm passionate about solving each client's divine puzzle--God created every single person individually and no one else is exactly like them.  Even though their symptoms stem from the same cause, they could differ completely from others.  For example, one client may have anxiety or depression and gastrointestinal issues stemming from a parasitic infection, while the other person has rashes.  It is fun for me to solve the puzzle and determine where to start to guide them toward healing.  One client may need a full body detox initially, while another may need months of nourishing cells.  It is kind of like putting together the outside pieces of a puzzle first; and every client, just like every puzzle, is different.

I am still passionate about product trainings and conferences.  I enjoy researching.

"What is one habit you see the most in people that you wish they could change?"

Clients are undernourished, toxic and stressed out.  Support and nourish their cells and remove the toxicants (physical and mental) --they start feeling better.

Most common mistake/omission you see people making in your practice.

The most common mistake is inconsistency, impatience, a negative mindset and they quit.  The most common underlying causes are toxins, toxicants, infections, liver or organ congestion, nutrient deficiencies, which cause a variety of symptoms like hormone imbalances, rashes, fatigue, etc.

I also see that many clients have a lack of faith on how God designed their bodies to heal.  I like to empower and encourage them to renew their minds and realize that they are not a problem to fix but a miracle to discover.  This holistic health journey has a learning curve but with faith and discipline they can succeed and heal.

What you find yourself saying over and over again to clients.

I tell clients that what they have is very common and I have seen people heal from their symptoms or concerns.  I try to give them hope and encouragement and that God designed our bodies to heal.  If they believe this and are patient, they are successful.
